Tuesday 13/1/15 – we plan to ski St Anton
departing on the free 8:40 town bus from just outside our hotel.
Haven’t seen Deanne this morning, but most others went and caught the bus on time. Tosca and Dennis decided not to go as they heard nothing but bad reports. It was a fine sunny day and at the top of the Galzig lift, the group split into two as there were a lot of us. Some skied the perfectly groomed early morning piste back to the bottom of Valfargher Bahn while the others went straight to ski St Anton. Paula appeared to be ok after icing her knee yesterday, Voltaren this morning and using Ning’s knee brace.
We skied up high, atop the Schindler three seater chair which had really long queues, but dropped you into some very nice long pistes – clearly the best place to ski in this area – got some video of Brent & Paul in untracked powder. The main slopes of St Anton were in a bit of a sorry state as they are south facing slopes, but all the runs around the Galzig / St Christoph area were in excellent condition. We met the
rest at the Krazy Kangaruh for lunch. The tex mex burger is my last big lunch on the tour – back to soups.
Paula returned after lunch (with Rod & Amanda) to preserve her fragile knee, while Melinda, David, Tom & Hamish returned before lunch as the conditions weren’t to their liking. Skied to St Christoph after lunch, did a few more runs, then headed back with Alan while Brent, Paul, Ning, David & Helen headed off to the Moose Bar in St anton for some acres ski activities..
Thong awards by a nervous Brent ( after a lot of collaboration from the boys) -Helen for making them leave the Moose bar early and then wait a long time for the post bus, Tom for losing his stock on the first lift, but awarded to Amanda for not ever winning the award in the past, but also by explaining to locals that Australian men were all soft !
Today was half way through this 3 week Europe Ski Holiday
